Your Well-Being Matters

Responsible Play

At Thunder Wars, responsible play is not a legal footnote — it is a genuine commitment. We believe entertainment should enrich your life, never diminish it. This page gives you the tools and resources to keep your digital play healthy and balanced.

Our Commitment to You

Thunder Wars is a free social entertainment platform. There is no real money involved at any stage of using our platform — no purchases, no financial stakes, no prizes. This means the financial risks associated with some forms of digital entertainment simply do not apply here. However, we are aware that any engaging, enjoyable activity — whether it is gaming, social media, television, or sport — can become problematic if it begins to displace the things that matter most in life. That is why responsible play is central to everything we do.

We have built this page because we genuinely care about the well-being of every person who spends time with us. The information here is not designed to alarm you — the vast majority of Thunder Wars users enjoy our platform in a completely healthy, balanced way. But we want everyone to have access to honest self-reflection tools and clear support pathways, so that if anyone ever needs help, they know exactly where to find it.

We encourage you to read through this page, bookmark it if it is useful, and share it with anyone in your life who you think might benefit from this information. Responsible entertainment is a shared value, and we are proud to stand firmly behind it.

What Is Responsible Digital Play?

Responsible digital play means engaging with online entertainment in a way that is healthy, intentional, and balanced. It means knowing why you are playing — for fun, relaxation, stimulation, or social connection — and making sure the amount of time you spend is consistent with those goals and with your broader life priorities.

Responsible players set and respect boundaries. They play when they want to, stop when they choose to, and never feel compelled to play. They maintain their real-world responsibilities — work, family, health, finances, relationships — alongside their entertainment activities. They are honest with themselves about how they feel before, during, and after playing, and they do not use digital entertainment as a way to escape from problems they need to address.

Entertainment can be a wonderful part of a balanced life. Dragon's Voyage and our other interactive modules are designed to provide genuine relaxation, fun, and stimulation. When enjoyed responsibly, they contribute positively to well-being. Our goal is to make sure that is always the case for every Thunder Wars player.

Healthy Habits

Tips for Responsible Play

Set Time Limits

Before you begin a play session, decide how long you want to play. Use a timer or your phone's built-in screen time tools to alert you when your chosen time is up. Honour that limit consistently — this simple habit makes a significant difference in keeping play balanced.

Take Regular Breaks

Step away from the screen at least every 60 minutes. Stretch, move around, get some water or food, or just rest your eyes. Regular breaks prevent digital fatigue, maintain your focus and enjoyment, and remind your mind that the real world exists outside the game.

📅

Keep a Play Schedule

Plan specific times for entertainment rather than playing spontaneously whenever you feel an urge. Scheduled play sessions help you stay in control, prevent gaming from bleeding into other time, and make your entertainment feel like a chosen pleasure rather than a habit.

🧘

Play from a Place of Calm

The best time to enjoy entertainment is when you are in a relaxed, positive state — not when you are stressed, anxious, sad, or trying to avoid something. If you notice yourself turning to digital entertainment to cope with difficult emotions, that is a signal worth paying attention to.

👥

Maintain Real Connections

Protect your relationships with family and friends. Entertainment is one part of a rich life — make sure it never comes at the cost of the connections that matter most to you. Make time for people, nature, and activities that exist entirely outside the digital world.

💡

Stay Self-Aware

Check in with yourself regularly. How do you feel after playing? Are you getting enough sleep? Are your responsibilities being met? Are you looking forward to your breaks and to life outside the screen? Honest self-reflection is the most powerful responsible play tool available.

Self-Assessment: Is Your Play Still Healthy?

The following questions are designed to help you reflect honestly on your relationship with digital entertainment. There are no right or wrong scores — the goal is to prompt genuine self-reflection. If several of these questions resonate with you, consider speaking with a trusted person in your life or reaching out to one of the support resources listed below.

  • 1. Do you find yourself thinking about Thunder Wars or digital entertainment frequently when you are not playing?
  • 2. Have you ever played longer than you intended to, or found it difficult to stop once you started?
  • 3. Have you neglected work, school, household tasks, or important responsibilities because of time spent on digital entertainment?
  • 4. Have you lied to family members, friends, or colleagues about how much time you spend on digital entertainment?
  • 5. Do you use digital entertainment as your primary way of dealing with stress, anxiety, sadness, or boredom?
  • 6. Do you feel irritable, anxious, or restless when you are unable to access digital entertainment for an extended period?
  • 7. Have relationships in your life been negatively affected by the amount of time you devote to digital entertainment?
  • 8. Have you tried to cut back on your digital entertainment time and found that you were unable to?
  • 9. Do you feel that digital entertainment takes up a larger part of your life than you would like?
  • 10. Have you experienced health problems — such as poor sleep, eye strain, headaches, or back pain — that you believe are related to your digital entertainment habits?

If you answered yes to three or more of these questions, or if any single question prompted strong concern, we encourage you to speak with someone you trust or to reach out to one of the professional support services listed below. You do not need to be in crisis to ask for help — a conversation with a trained professional can provide valuable perspective and support.

Recognizing Problematic Behaviour

Problematic digital entertainment behaviour is characterized by a loss of control over the activity, increasing prioritization of entertainment over other life areas, and continuation of the behaviour despite negative consequences. Warning signs include: gaming for increasingly long periods; feeling unable to reduce or stop; lying to others about gaming habits; using gaming as the primary coping mechanism for emotional difficulties; and experiencing significant negative impacts on health, work, school, or relationships.

It is important to note that enjoying digital entertainment regularly is not inherently problematic. The question is always whether the activity is under your control and consistent with a healthy, balanced life. If you are in control, enjoying what you play, and maintaining your real-world priorities, you are engaging responsibly. If that balance tips, support is available and seeking it is a sign of strength, not weakness.
